Mr. David Ellis—I first met him…34 years ago in 1991…at a Blues & Soul music bar in Shin-Okubo, Tokyo. My drinking lots with my collage friends, he was next to me. He was just starting to settle in Tokyo as an English teacher, and I also knew that his big brother was a very famous blues guitarist from Atlanta Georgia: Tinsley Ellis. WOW!
Since then, I had kept contacting with him sometime, and since 2005, I became my English teacher to check out all my English texts of “My Freedamn” books. Yes, I have learned many of difficult “English Grammar” rules from him.
Now I have been living in California for 27 years; I became a very American (called “banana”) On the other hand, he has lived in Japan for over 35 years: Now he became a very Japanese. (called “Egg.”) Banana and Egg… I feel very strange, but we are very good “music friends” forever till we will die.
Thanks so much always, David-san. See you soon!
